Textural Bedroom
Interior Design
Overview
Monica and Evan bought the home of their dreams in 2022, and approached RH San Francisco to help them bring the home to life. To establish the design direction for the home, we first focused on the bedroom. The sanctuary space of their new bedroom is soft, textural, and inspired by the beauty of nature.
About the Client
Monica and Evan are an older millennial couple who just purchased their dream first home in Lakeshore, SF. They upgraded from a single bedroom apartment in the city, so they have plenty of empty space in their new home! They have a tiny purse dog, aptly named Gucci, and they love entertaining their big group of friends.

safe space
The existing architecture of the room provided some unique opportunities, as well as challenges.
The bay windows offered a beautiful, classic San Fransisco element and the perfect place for a small seating area. The massive Cloud Bed occupies almost the entire room and sits low to the ground, so height is created with the use of arched mirrors and wall mounted task sconces.
The strangely sloping ceiling, comprised of several angular joins presented a challenge with the placement of the chandelier. Ultimately, only a single location was possible to mount the piece.
An oddly positioned skylight just above the door on the left provided the perfect opportunity for a beautiful, oversized tree. When in doubt, just add plants.

texture on texture
The vision for Monica and Evan’s overall aestetic was to create a neutral palette that focussed on raw materials and natural forms, contrasted with hints of black geometric elements.
For this room, we started with a deeply textural oatmeal wool rug, and layered in linen, leather, hammered metal, and raw stone. The nubby texture of the rug is complemented by the mink boucle of the chairs, and the linen-cotton blend of the duvet cover. The overall result is richly tactile with sophisticated contrast.

Selections
The RH pieces used in this design create the dreamy getaway that Monica and Evan envisioned. Timothy Oulton’s massive Cloud Bed has a super soft frame that provides ultimate comfort, while the stunning alabaster chandelier adds the wow factor that brings the space together.
The classic rice wine vases on the side tables offer a vehicle for the natural branches that frame the space, while the soft layers of warm toned bedding break up the stark white linen of the bed and complete the softly tonal look.
