Covex Music

Brand Identity

Overview

Covex is one of the top up and coming producers in the Denver music scene. He also happens to be my little brother. In 2017, as Covex’s sound truly begun to take shape and his music began to gain traction within the scene, he needed a mark which reflected his thoughtful, melodic, and, at times, haunting sound. I designed this mark in collaboration with my other brother, Will Hauge.

The evolution of sound

My brother is one of those people who knew from the age of 14 what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. His passion is inspiring to me.

When he first started making music, the sound had no shape. Sometimes it was Hardstyle, sometimes it was Dubstep, sometimes it was House-ish. His original logo reflected this. It was angular and aggressive. I should know, I have the original monogram tattooed on my wrist.

As his sound began to take shape, it emerged into a a beautiful and ethereal take on chillwave, with custom recorded Foley sounds, live instruments, and live vocals. Covex sings on many of his tracks both at shows and in the studio.

Music that will take you to the Moon

The new mark is intended to reflect Covex’s new sound. Derived from the work of one of the greatest thinkers of our time, Galileo Galilei, the sketch of the waxing crescent moon represents both the tranquility of the night, the natural ebb and flow of the cosmos, and the innovation of the human spirit.

In context, the logo has evolved into a multitude of lockups, from the full mark shown on apparel, stickers, and on the website, to the elegant and understated moon within the O, used in his newer posters and album covers.

Check out the logo in context on Covex’s Insta below, or just go to one of his upcoming shows!
