Overview
MATTER has a small shop where we sell cool stuff we fabricate in house, along with a vast array of books, products from around the world, and beautiful letterpress prints by Rick Griffith.
These lightboxes are a MATTER designed product. I was tasked with creating two new typographic faceplates for the latest release of the product. Both are designed as nightlights for children.
The Product
I was guided through this process by MATTER design directors Rick Griffith and Debra Johnson, who helped me both technically and in a design capacity to execute on this vision. It’s nice to get to learn from some of the design greats while you work.
The final words and typographic solutions are all the things they should be for a kid’s nightlight: playful, fun, and soft. From the colors to the shapes, the designs are gender neutral and would fit well into any decor for a kids room.
