Comprehensive Brand Identity
Overview
Brodie Group is a construction management firm based in the Bay Area with a global client base. With expertise spanning from private estates, to multi-acre farming properties, to university campuses and beyond, Brodie boasts a prolific portfolio of work.
From 2024 onward, I have been working closely with the Brodie team to refresh their brand identity and build out a comprehensive and functional brand kit that spans a multitude of mediums.
the brand
Brodie’s legacy logo was refreshed with some key visual adjustments to make the overall design feel more modern and polished. The compass design was kept from the original, as a nod to the legacy of the company and it’s founder, Steve Brodie. The new design is supported by a kit with a variety of lockups to promote flexibility and scalability.
The full visual brand kit features a mostly monochrome palette with shades of blue and gray for a sleek and professional look and feel. The typeface kit pairs a large, slender, geometric headline with a no-nonsense sans-serif body copy. These elements are supported by a suite of additional visual elements, including a flexible thin line geometric graphic and detailed iconography in 2 styles.
The brand elements have been applied to a variety of IRL and digital mediums, including construction site signage, business cards, print advertising, and more.
The Website
Brodie’s body of work includes stunning properties, sprawling landscapes, and transformative restorations. Needless to say, their portfolio is well represented by an impressive collection of photography, renderings, and data documentation.
The new website highlights their vast array of projects, as well as showcasing the breadth of Brodie’s capabilities and technical acumen. Unusual grid structures, balanced whitespace, and strong, human-written copy comes together in a website that is professional, sophisticated, eye-catching, and honest.
Google Suite Templates
A quality brand refresh needs to not only look beautiful, but be functional and usable for more than just the designer.
To support Brodie’s team in improving all of their internal and external communications, I developed a kit of presentation, document, and spreadsheet templates for use within the Google Suite. Each document has a fully programmed set of colors, typefaces, grids, placeholders, and other layout elements to help everyone, from the CEO to the newest intern, create and edit on-brand documentation.
In collaboration with Brodie’s marketing department, I developed 8 parent documents with over 100 unique page templates for presentations, quals packets, proposals, project budgets, meeting minutes, and more. These documents were then integrated into Brodie’s company Google Drive to be versioned easily by any member of the team.
